Recording of corrected hydrological and physico-chemical parameters (2014-2027)- Observatoire Sélune

Continuous monitoring stations for hydrological, physical, chemical, and sedimentary parameters have been installed on the Sélune River as part of the scientific program to monitor the removal of the Sélune dams. Measurements have been taken at least hourly since 2014. Since 2019, these stations have been under the responsibility of the Sélune Observatory, which is in charge of monitoring environmental parameters (biotic and abiotic).


The physical and chemical parameters measured at all stations include turbidity, water level, and conductivity. At some stations, pH and dissolved oxygen or chlorophyll concentration are also measured.


This layer provides the corrected measurements from the hydrological measurement stations.

Purpose

The purpose of this data is to monitor changes in water flow (discharge) and fine sediments (turbidity) as well as the physical and chemical context (temperature, conductivity, etc.) at a high temporal resolution. Providing the data before correction allows potential users to apply their own processing methods.

The measurements are obtained by several sensors. At the Signy station, maintenance of these sensors and data download are managed by the SAS joint research unit, while at the other stations, they are managed by EDF or its subcontractor, which then transmits them to the SAS joint research unit. No corrections have been applied by operators to the data from the Signy station.


These corrected measurements are provided as raw data by the following sensors:

- Electrical conductivity of the river measured with a WTW probe (microsiemens per cm: µS/cm)

- River flow calculated from the level measurement and the DREAL calibration curve (cubic meters per second: m3/s)

- River level measured with a Druck probe - 2 sensors (meters: m)
